The 2022 HDAC Excellence Award Winner -Me

MId-May I received an email that I’ve been selected to get the 2022 HDAC Excellence Award and could I come to New York in a few weeks to accept it. The email came from an unknown source and from an unknown person asking me to do something, which these days triggers thoughts of a potential scam, but I did a little digging and it was legit HAHA. So I said thank you for the award and I’d definitely be present. I was excited to get an award from the Hospitality Design Magazine’s Hospitality Diversity Action Committee. I am still in my second year of “officially” working in the hospitality industry. I’ve always been in, or around the industry, but working in a full-service hotel gave me an undeniable experience. I am truly honored and appreciative to be receiving the reward. I’ve learned so much about myself and the world through the work I’ve been doing. While working in impact and culture I’ve never thought of awards nor knew about awards for the work being done, but they are great to receive and very validating. Thank you to everyone that made it possible; Revival Baltimore, Donte Johnson, NouvoRe and Hyatt. I also want to thank the HDAC team and I look forward to crossing paths with them again on my journey.
